NBA Commissioner Silver 'Disturbed' by Arrests

Addressing the arrests for the initial occasion, league head Silver said he was "deeply disturbed" by the events of the recent days.

"Nothing is more critical to the NBA and supporters than the integrity of the competition," he told Amazon Prime. "Therefore I felt uneasy. It was disturbing."

The commissioner further said an NBA investigation into Rozier's conduct in March 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a game he played for the Charlotte Hornets versus the Pelicans, discovered no wrongdoing.

"We were informed by the regulators and the gambling firms," he added.

"We investigated that situation and were open regarding it. And while there was the unusual wagering, we, honestly, found no evidence.

"Federal authorities has subpoena power... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can do all kinds of things that the league office can't do.

"Therefore, we've been working with them since then. And, of course, what they revealed recently was an indictment.

"And two and a half years later, he has not been found guilty of any offense, in fairness to Terry.

"Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a compromise in this case between upholding rights and investigating."
